| Introduction | I’m nearly 30 now and born in Germany. My partner (American) and I met in Germany through our University time whilst throwing Ultimate discs at each other’s heads. Therefore cultural differences are part of our daily lifes and sometimes essential when it comes to understand the values we have. When I moved to the US northwest cost – Seattle, I looked for books which would talk about cultural specifics of the US or the US in comparison to German culture. Besides some ‘funny’ books which joked about the general stereotypes – Germans: drink beer, love sausages, are rough and love white things to eat – Americans: are fat, conservative and stupid … I couldn’t find anything talking about the differences between these both cultures. Also when some differences are smaller than in comparison to other cultures, small things do matter if the sum up. Therefore I started this Blog, to share (hopefully in a humorous way ;) my experiences. And just that you know and to prevent upcoming misunderstandings: I love both cultures with their diversity and things I sometime have to smile about ;) |
