Introduction Since the summer of 2001 Ronald and Kathleen have made their home aboard Vilisar, a 34-foot, William-Atkin-designed wooden cutter. The vessel was launched in its home port of Victoria, British Columbia, in 1974. After cruising for two years in Washington State, British Columbia (including the Queen Charlotte Islands), and Alaska, they sailed offshore to California in August 2003. In February 2005 they left from Long Beach for the Sea of Cortés in Mexico. As a change of pace Ronald and Kathleen undertook in early September 2005 to be temporary resident caretakers at Rancho el Nogal, a remote cattle ranch near the village of Yepachic (Chihuahua State) in the Tutuaca Range of the Sierra Madres Mountains. These near-daily blogs started there. You can also visit the ranch website at www.tutuaca.org . Vilisar spent a few months in Western Panama in early 2009 before returning to Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador, fifty miles south of the equator. Due to new visa restrictions in Ecuador, Vilisar travelled back to Panama at Christmas 20008 in preparatiion for a South Pacific crossing 2009. for one reason or another, this didn't happen. Currently in Costa Rica. Nice.
