Introduction I am professor of human rights law and was the director of the centre for the study of human rights at LSE between 2002 and 2009. I am also a practising barrister, working from Matrix Chambers in central London. My main interests are in the law relating to human rights, civil liberties and terrorism, though I also write about Ireland and other things from time to time. I am orginally from County Longford in Ireland and went to University in Dublin before coming over to the UK to do further study. I have lived in England ever since, in Cambridge and now in London.
