| Introduction | For ten years I ran the Women's Business Center in Salt Lake City where we offered training in entrepreneurship, certification and procurement, mentoring, business management, marketing, business plan writing, and cash flow/accounting. We sponsored networking opportunities and several conferences and special events. I took great pride in offering and nominating women and small business owners for awards so other people would be inspired to move to the next level. I was lead to this work by my lifelong interest in women's issues and business (my degree is in business). Writing has always been one of my passions, starting with working at my small town newspaper writing comments on happenings in my town, continuing on to editing my college newspaper and then other newsletters for various organizations, culminating in our Women's Business Center newsletter. When our center closed at the end of September, somewhere I read that what I had done before was just preperation for what I would do in the future. My work at the center prepared me for writing business plans and I hope blogs. So has my work to become a certified fianncail planner, which I accomplished in teh early 1990's. |
