| Interests | I was born on the small, cosmopolitan island of Singapore and was blessed with a father whose job would allow me to live and visit many of the word's most beautiful countries and experience fascinating cultures as I grew up. We lived in Medan and Jakarta, Indonesia; Cairo, Egypt; and Calcutta and New Delhi, India until I moved to Boston, in the United States, to attend university when I turned 18. My father worked in the airline business and I took full advantage of the benefits of being his dependent until I completed graduate school at the age of 24. My parents' love for traveling and adventure were contagious and I grew a love for exploring cities and cultures unknown to me at a very young age. When I look back at my childhood, I don't remember weekends where we didn't take trips to Sumatran volcanoes or learn how to ride horses around the pyramids of Giza or snorkel in the Red Sea. When I was old enough to travel with friends I biked around Holland, toured Nepal and backpacked around South East Asia. What I love most about traveling is spontaneity, connecting with people from all over the world, sharing different points of view, but most of all, finding those spots on earth, natural or manmade, that leave you with that feeling of awe so great that there are no words to describe it. I lived in Boston for 13 years, the longest I had ever lived in any one city. After graduate school, I worked in the financial industry, but with the recent economic downturn and organizational changes in the company that I had worked for, I took an unconventional approach and left my job to travel for a year. I don't know what the future holds, but I have no regrets for the decision I made. I have some great stories to tell and best of all, I have had the pleasure of experiencing it all with my husband, my best friend, a gifted photographer, and the greatest parter-in-crime a girl could ask for. Carpe diem my friends, carpe diem! |
