| Introduction | The Branches is being set up in Goa, India, to facilitate the re-skilling of people who are currently living in conditions which violate their dignity. Severe working conditions, very low pay and a general attitude of disrespect for the working class and “lower caste” people sees them trapped in an unbreakable and generational cycle of poverty. Through projects such as a womens’ sewing centre and shop, a school for the children of workers (who are often labourers themselves), and food distribution, The Branches aims to empower those who are currently treated as if they were nothing, and help them realize their true worth and dignity. |
