| Favorite Movies | While I love movies and am entertained by just about any genre, I best like movies that push me to feel something. I want to be changed by the movies I see. My favorites are about passion and redemption, movies where someone takes a stand for something bigger than themselves, and movies that make me look at something familiar differently. I like movies that show me the realities of the world of yesterday and today, as I hope to be inspired. We cannot alleviate injustice and inhumanity by pretending they don’t exist. |
| Favorite Music | Music is my refuge. It has always been my refuge. Each song is a memory, a cry out to God for peace, when life’s troubles are too much to bear in silence. The gifts of the songwriters and musicians give me a spirit of community, reminding me that I am not adrift alone, as though they are with me, their songs an arm’s embrace. Each song offering comfort, and strength, and hope. |

Favorite authors and books: The Bible, Francine Rivers, Pat Conroy, Southern Lit, Nick Hornby, Nelson DeMille, war memoirs, Ellen Emerson White, Donald Miller, Nicholas Sparks, Barbara Wood, Barbara Bickmore, Laurie Beth Jones, Gone with the Wind, The Great Gatsby, Richard Bach, To Kill a Mockingbird. I also like true stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. |
