| Introduction | Dr Sara Platto is founder of Human Animal Interaction Service. This is an organization based in Beijing (China) which aims are to develop animal behavioural medicine field and to promote education on pet owner interaction. She holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a Ph.D in Psychobiology. She has been involved in the field of Animal Behavior and Medicine for over a decade both as a practicing Veterinarian and Animal Behavior Medicine consultant. Dr.Platto has specialized in the field of the human animal interaction with domestic and zoological park animals. In addition, she has focused considerable time and effort on environmental education. Particularly in the Middle East and Spain, she has worked closely with local associations involved in Environmental Education in public schools to educate children, their parents and the teachers to the impact of human pollutants on the sea animals. In Beijing, Dr Platto is developing a pilot program for education of children with domestic pets in an urban environment. Presently, Dr Platto has been award a post doc by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to continue her research on dolphin communication. |
