| Introduction | My main passion in life is to improve the living conditions of the poor around the world. I have had the privilege of traveling to Kisumu Kenya to do humanitarian work for about 6 weeks in 2003, 2005 and 2007. It has been a life changing opportunity. Since seeing the difficult conditions the hard working people of Kisumu Kenya endure, my niece and I were moved to found Future In Our Hands-USA in 2005. The main purpose of FIOH-USA is to raise funds to be used for poverty alleviation in order to improve the future lives of the individuals we assist. FIOH-USA also works to raise awareness of the injustice of the poverty of millions of people in the world. I find this work very challenging and rewarding. Our organization is small and we have a personal relationship with the individuals we assist. We have minimal overhead, allowing over 95 percent of our donations to go directly to the poor we serve. Besides my work with Future In Our Hands- USA I am a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Buffalo NY and work as a physical therapist doing home care with some of the poorer people in my local area. |
