About me

Introduction francophone midwestern girl with three cats, a miniature poodle, and a new wife
Interests the predictable things for my demographic: cooking, reading, gardening, travel, yoga, you get the picture
Favorite Movies these days it's "Under the Tuscan Sun." I love the escape-to-Europe fantasy, and I like the way it doesn't shirk from showing, in a humorous way, the pathetic state caused by grief. And, okay, I admit it. I'm smitten with Diane Lane.
Favorite Music I've been listening to Tony Bennett lately. I like his CD "Perfectly Frank, " in which he sings some of the classics that made Frank Sinatra famous. I love his rendition of "I Wished on the Moon." Can't quite decide if it's Tony's slightly raspy voice I'm crazy about--or the unforgettable Ralph Sharon Trio that backs him up. Otherwise, I like classical music, country and western, nineteenth-century European arias (especially Maria Callas), classical folk traditions from places like Turkey and India, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Sarah Vaughan, rockers like Bruce Springsteen, the list goes on.
Favorite Books I used to be stuck in the nineteenth century, but V.S. Naipaul has brought me firmly into the twentieth century. I'm reading his classic novel "A House for Mr. Biswas, " which is a long sustained cry for "place."
