| Introduction | I am originally from Tbilisi, Georgia. My expertise and research interests range widely and include (but are not limited to) the following areas: analysis of smuggling in nuclear and radioactive materials; export control; cooperative threat reduction (CTR) programs in the former Soviet Union; U.S.-led global counter-proliferation initiatives; cyber-warfare; UAVs; "frozen conflicts" in the post-Soviet space; Islam in Russia and the former Soviet Union; Islamic extremism and radicalism in the North Caucasus; and, of course, analysis of geopolitical developments in Caucasus and Central Asia.
