| Introduction | My work is a study that demonstrates the possibility of removing myself from making certain decisions relating to the subjects I photograph which are objects within our environment.Objects are generally overlooked and I attempt to highlight them giving their elements and fragments equal importance.I have used mechanical and aleatory methods of selecting the areas of subjects, for example dice, graphs and maps.Selecting areas by chance methods my input is minimised, challenges my preconceptions about the notion of beauty and transforms random areas of the earth’s surface, allowing them their own language. These methods have re-educated the way I see and hopefully how the viewer sees. By accepting and not retracting and keeping myself completely open to aesthetic sensations I am presenting only reality itself. Within the study I have accepted all aspects of reality and presented them transparently. I have made art that does not exclude anything as a potential subject and by selecting the sites randomly every inch of the earth’s surface is granted equal significance, capturing the truthful simplicity of the subject and rediscover the world I live in. |
