| Introduction | I am a journalist and writer with a personal and professional interest in cesarean deliveries, particularly those that are planned and/or chosen by women. In 2004, I decided to do something about the negative portrayal of elective cesarean deliveries, and began work on my website - www.electivecesarean.com - with the aim of examining the specific risks and benefits of planned versus emergency surgery, and explaining why cesarean delivery is a legitimate birth choice. The website went live in February 2006 and our beautiful baby daughter was born by cesarean in September 2007. |
