About me

OccupationMom, wife, teacher...my kids call me "Queen of the World"
LocationIllinois, United States
IntroductionAs a mom from the suburbs who loves an occasional trip to the city, I am 35 and feeling better than I did at 25. I tackle suburban living with my husband, twin five year old daughters, and two Italian greyhounds. Of course most of it would be next to impossible without the rest of our family: Maw, Paw, Grammy, Cappy, and fantastic aunts and uncles.
InterestsReading, laughing, hanging with my family, avoiding dairy at all cost.
Favorite booksIt all depends on the purpose of the read. For a favorite classic? Catcher in the Rye. It's insanely brilliant. I hated it the first time I read it, then I taught it. Everyone can find an aspect of Holden to relate to, you just have to accept that all of us are a little crazy in some way. One you do, you will see yourself in him and hear his voice every time you find yourself feeling sorry for someone who doesn't need or pity and anytime you tell a half truth to keep from hurting the feelings of another. For a fun read? I love independent publishers. I have a friend who began epublishing a few years ago. She introduced me to her writing md the writig of several others, I really enjoy. Karly Kirkpatrick, G.P. Ching, and Megg Jensen all have a talent for storytelling and crafting adventures that make you wish you were the lead characters or make ou very happy you aren't, depending on the tale being told. And I would be remiss if I didn't throw in two very different series that it almost feels cliche to love. Both are series that anyone who loves fantasy and the perils of good vs. evil must fall in love with. Care to make a guess? The Harry Potter books and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. While very different in style and audience, both are extraordinarily captivating. Good must overcome evil to save humanity- or something resembling humanity in the case of LOTR. Both are populated by mystical creatures and fantastic adventures. Both transport you to a place where you would very much like to visit. Both took only a few pages before my heart was captured.
