| Introduction | I became interested in painting in the 80's, when I bought my first set of pastels while visiting relatives in Maryland. After that came my first portrait, of my niece, and I was hooked. I was fortunate to live in Santa Fe, NM, for 4 years, taking advantage of classes being offered there. Meanwhile, I took a detour into finished ware ceramics. After moving to Canyon Lake, TX., in 1996, I joined the local art guild, renewing my interest in painting. I am a self-taught artist, but have been very fortunate to have taken, and will continue to take, classes/workshops from very talented artists, wanting to share their knowledge. I received my first, "1st. Place" blue ribbon, titled "Paint What You Love", in 2008. I have adopted that title as my painting theme, and always try to keep it in mind when I am thinking of what to paint next. People and animals are my favorite subjects. I finally discovered what I wanted to do when I grew up. My goal with this blog, is to share with my fellow artists/friends, what I am learning, and hoping they will share the same with me. |
