Location | Florida |
Introduction | I graduated from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida and worked in the field of advertising upon graduation. I soon realized that I was most truly passionate about writing and working with children. I then went back to school to become certified to teach English. After taking classes, I began teaching and have been working with children (pre-school through high school) in some capacity for 20 years. Currently, I teach middle school U.S. History. I am also a freelance writer and have contributed to various publications, including the Today Show Parenting Team, Thrive Global, Huffington Post, South Florida Parenting, For Every Mom, M&V Magazine, Parenting Plus, Good News Florida, The Children's Trust, and The Sun Sentinel. I also enjoy writing children's picture books and attending SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) conferences in my spare time. Most importantly, I am the mother of three boys. My role as a mother and wife is the most important and rewarding role I play. I wouldn't trade my life or family with anyone. I am so unbelievably blessed! |
Interests | Being with our three boys as much as possible; Traveling with my husband to see our favorite band - Pearl Jam; Writing anything and everything; Teaching; Running; Playing the guitar; Watching Gator football; Going to baseball games; Going to the beach; Spending time with family in the Keys or the mountains of North Carolina! I love both places! |
Favorite Movies | Pretty much every 80's movie and anything that gets wrapped up nicely in a bow at the end. |
Favorite Music | PEARL JAM (I travel the world with my husband to see them play), Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffett, Oh - Did I mention PEARL JAM? |
Favorite Books | No time to read anything other than the novels I teach. All down time is consumed with writing, but I LOVE that! |
