| Introduction | I have been passionate about recovery from mental illness since I began my undergraduate studies in psychology many years ago. Later, at 25, I experienced an extremely severe episode of depression with psychosis from which I have recovered without medication (although I am not without intermittent challenges). I am a graduate student in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Ecopsychology and a focus on the treatment of severe mental illness. I have more than a decade of experience supporting others in recovery, and I continue to learn new things about recovery every day. (Style and tone in my blog vary because sometimes I am writing as a person in recovery, sometimes as a graduate student, and sometimes as a peer specialist.) |
