Introduction	I grew up exploring the beaches of Lake Erie and climbing the tallest trees I could find in the local woods. I would sit there for hours contemplating life while watching it unfold around me. A poet, artist and philosopher at heart, I graduated from high school with a scholarship for art school. But, as life has its 90 degree turns, I ended up graduating from college in 1976 with a nursing degree. I then later pursued a doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and graduated from Bastyr University in 1985. Since then, I have been a member of Bastyr University's academic faculty and am presently a clinical adjunct professor at the University's out-patient care clinic. I have had a number of articles published in various medical journals, have contributed chapters to the Textbook of Natural Medicine and have authored two books. Currently, I maintain a busy private practice as a licensed, naturopathic primary care physician at my integrated medical clinic The UHC in Seattle, Washington. I also continue research, writing and lecturing in healing and spirituality.
