| Introduction | The first sentence is always the hardest. So I cheated. And now I'm already on my third one: Mike Bazzett took a B.A. in English from Carleton College and has been fooling with poems and books ever since. Picked up an M.A. from Claremont Graduate School and eventually landed at the Blake School in Minneapolis, six years ago, where he chairs the English department. He loves nothing better than writing about himself in the third person. He also enjoys idling -- whether as an engine at a crossroads or lazing in a hammock. In closing, he believes in the virtues of brevity -- chief among them "the resonance of things left unsaid" and "shortness." |
