| Favorite movies | A native of Los Angeles but no stranger to the road, Mataji Booker Graham works as an investigator, a collector of moments filtered through time. She pursues paths left by others like an archeologist collecting samples. With an intention to discern the ‘joie de vivre’ of routine objects, urban landscapes and the human family, her work often explores the mundane activities of peoples and places through images both pictorial and emotional in nature.Exploring society as social experiment and nature as a way of seeking to connect and understand the collective ties that links cultures together. Past Exhibitions Mataji has captured images throughout New York City, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Los Angeles and Rome - and has showed works in Paris and Los Angeles with Element Skateboards and at Bread and Butter Barcelona for Street Wear Magazine’s “Untitled” No. 7 along side artists from all over the world including Haze, Mark Gonzales, sheOne, Obey, and others. She is a featured artist on Painter/Architect Aleardo Nardinochhi’s Rome ‘White Cube Gallery’ site and is credited on KCET’s online Global Sounds LA for her images of Vallenato music sensation “Very Be Careful”. Recent Work Most recently she has created an online Photo Blog, ‘Serious Play’ and has ventured into Film with a series of 6 short films shot in Tijuana, Mexico called “The Awakening’s of Eva”, also viewable online among other short films and videos at www.vimeo.com/matajibooker |
