| Introduction | I began racing triathlons in 2007 as a way to stay in shape after my soccer career was forced to an end due to multiple concussions. At least that is what it started out as! I quickly fell in love with the sport, and after racing with Michigan State for a number of years, I decided I wanted to take it to the next level. I hired an amazing coach, Barb Lindquist, and focused on bigger races for my 2013 season. I improved my swimming technique with local swim legend and coach Rich Mull and pushed my running hard with the Playmakers track team. And it paid off! At the Life Time Chicago Triathlon I finished 1st overall and earned my pro card. I decided not to wait and applied for my pro card the very next day, deciding to race in the pro division for the first time 6 weeks later. Of course triathlon is never that simple! Also in 2013, I earned my Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and began my residency in Psychiatry at Michigan State University. It will be tough to balance my two passions, psychiatry and triathlon, but I’m excited for the journey and the challenge! |
