Introduction Immigrant from Germany, in USA since 1985, born and raised in East Germany, came to Frankfurt/Main in 1960. Went to the Gymanasium (highschool). Then was an apprentice in the booktrade for 3 years, traveled to Asia for 1 year in 1970/71, studied education, psychology, sociology in Frankfurt. Found no fulltime work after Masters'Degree in Edu., did art, handpuppets and taught at Volkshochschule. Met my future American husband, married in Ffm. in '85 and moved to USA. Lived in California for 1 year. In Portland since '86, taught puppetmaking in TAG programs and "Artist in Residence" and German, later as private teacher. Miss the "oldness" of Europe, German language, friends, homesick in Winter, but like Portlands Spring, "wide open spaces" east of Cascades, wildflowers, birding, Powell's Books, Farmers Market at PSU, good organic food in Pdx. Don't like rain day after day, week after week. Like biking and walking, but can only do this for a short time because of a foot problem. Struggle with getting older, turned 60 in 07, seems or is a big thing. Strong Interest now in writing down my memories about my childhood years in Eisenach, East Germany, have even started it.
