| Introduction | I am a director/actor/playwright/educator and freelance arts journalist. I attended my first production at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 1978. I discovered the Shaw Festival in 1983. Since 1983, I have not missed a summer at either Stratford or Shaw. Over the past 35 years, I have enjoyed hundreds of productions at each festival. For many years, I was a stringer for the Booth newspaper chain and wrote scores of reviews and feature articles on Stratford and Shaw. I have a genuine passion for Shaw and have always been drawn to the drama and poetry of Shakespeare. Each January, I write a preview article on each festival and then follow that up with a set of reviews and observations again in August.
