| Introduction | I used to commute approximately 8 miles (round trip) from my house on the south side of Nashville to my office at Vanderbilt University near Centennial Park. As commutes go, it was a sweet one. The bonus was having my 4 year old and 2 year old in the trailer hitchin' a ride to daycare. But now I'm living in Bloomington, IN and the ride is a little shorter (about 6.5 miles) and a little lighter (the kids are now home with mom) and, believe it or not, even sweeter. 1/3 is through established, 1960s-era neighborhoods, 1/3 is along a multi-use paved path that parallels a train track, and the final 1/3 is through one of the most beautiful campuses in the U.S. Occasionally I have a thought or take a picture I'd like to share with the world, and I'll either do it here or at my Facebook page. Anyway, as the bumper sticker says, "Cars are coffins," so although I've said goodbye to my pleas for friendly Nashville drivers, low humidity/cool mornings, and debris-free bike lanes, I'm still hoping for an inspiring and peaceful ride each day.
