| Introduction | Although I have worked in the Information sector for almost 20 years I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity I encountered during the IFLA 2011 conference(I shall remember to explain more about this in one of my planned monthly entries/updates). The idea for a blog about Library professionals around the world arose from my experiences of the IFLA conference. Another reason behind this blog came from the fact that after Googling the keywords "Librarians Around the World" I was disappointed by the results. LibrariansAroundtheWorld was not available which is why the URL is LibrarianAroundtheWorld. At the time of writing (2 Jan 2012) I am not a frequent blogger so please be patient. I ask also that any comments made be respectful and polite. My main intention is that this blog will give Library workers a focal point to connect internationally, providing interesting and unique snapshots into the experiences of a professional community that all too often quietly provides an essential service to most social, economic and political developments around the world. |
