| Introduction | I come to you all from a twisted road of waiting tables in Steamboat Springs, skiing almost daily, and answering famous questions such as, "at what altitude do the deer turn into elk?" From Steamboat to Ft. Collins, and the CSU English Department in 1992. Becoming an English student was an enriching experience, challenging, inspiring, and validated by my mentors: Bill McBride, who modeled patience, pedagogy, and professionalism; Dick Henze, who stewarded me on journeys into the world of Shakespeare; and Gilbert Findlay, who told me "you’re going to be a good teacher," and made me believe it. I was hired by Horizon High School upon my graduation and have been teaching ever since. Perhaps testing the waters of my own powers of interpretation with other Shakespeare lovers will take me back to that delicious "magical realm." I haven't delved into a new Shakespeare play in years. I’ve taught Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, Julius Caesar, and Hamlet. I directed non-acting English students in Twelfth Night and Taming of the Shrew. I'm a theatre junkie, and see all of the productions of Shakespeare's plays performed by the Boulder Colorado Shakespeare Festival every year. |
