Introduction	The students at UJ have taken the initiative to form SWiET, a society for female engineering science and technology students. The society was officially launched in May 2009 and two satellite committees serve the Doornfontein and the Auckland Park Kingsway campuses. Through several outreach programmes our young women at UJ will have the opportunity to serve their communities, inspire other young girls to pursue careers in engineering, to receive mentorship in the student-to-student mentorship programme, and build networks with peers, professionals and the Faculty.
