Introduction Here’s a brief CV. 2000. (Organised with Simon Thomas) Spokesfest 2000 festval of Human Powered Vehicles. The festival continued annually until 2003. 2002. Co-founded (again with Simon) Cyclemagic community cycling project. http://www.cyclemagic.org.uk 2004. Began a project to research, record and celebrate the cycling history in Leicester. 2005. Rode my Penny-Farthing from Leicester to York (around 140 miles the route we took) for a bet and to raise funds for a local charity. 2006. Made a short documentary with the BBC on the life of Leicester’s cycling legend, Bert Harris. 2007. Was asked to open the Tour de France live on stage in London’s Trafalgar Square and talk about the history of the bicycle. 2008. Acted as cycling consultant and supplied machines for a Stella Artois TV advert all about a 1930’s tandem race. I also regularly contribute articles to newspapers and magazines, appear as a guest on regional radio talking about both history and cycling issues, give talks on cycling history, appear at events giving demonstrations of riding my Penny and run a cycling history roadshow for schools.
