| Introduction | As visual artists we explore the possibilities of visual language that transcends barriers of the verbal and written word. Where problems of interpretation exist for both, the visual naturally emphasises the active participation of a faculty quite literally over-looked. A consideration of "headlessness" offers interesting exercises of the wider visually aware experience, and the existential philosophical psychological implications can be thoroughly explored via visual art. This blog for a website represents a decreasingly tentative unfolding of an individual responding to a journey into and out of the abyss! An account of what one discovers recovering from the suicidal nihilism of mental breakdown. Both the breakdown and the art testify to the universality of their condition. The conclusions of this research obviously require some kind of proper representation and presentation, but that's another thing altogether. A persuasive narrative is possibly more important than the work these days of shame and blame and social manipulation of sensitivities above reason. russellburn@russellburn.net |
