| Introduction | I used to be as active a person as I could be with having had both hips slip out of place when I was a boy. In the early 80s I had a number of hip surgeries and finally hip replacement. Then, in the early 1990 it was determined I had some type of a demyelinating disease. In the early 2000s I was confined to a wheelchair. Finally after a long argument with my doctor, I retired. At the time I was a senior programmer at a hospital. In early 2005 I was diagnosed with Spinal Cerebellar Degeneration. About a year after retirement, I had to have a Foley and a Tracheostomy making it difficult to talk. So now I maintain my extended family web site. Do a lot of Instant Messaging with family members. Because my wife works and all the children are out of the house, I spend my days alone sitting in the den. This blog is not a place where I post thoughts on world events or a place where I talk about my deep and enduring Faith that keeps me going. It is my on-line diary. Some days I will write and some days I won't. When I write, it may be about how I am feeling, about a memory, about something I've done, or about my daily struggle with my disease. |
