| Introduction | Cancer is a complex, complicated condition. So if you have a cancer diagnosis, you want as many people as possible working together to treat you. That’s why cancer tumor boards exist — to allow cancer specialist to meet as a team to discuss difficult cancer cases and work out the best way to treat each patient. Cancer tumor board is a group of doctors with different cancer specialties that includes medical oncologist (who provides cancer treatment with drugs), a surgical oncologist (who provides cancer treatment with surgery), and a radiation oncologist (who provides cancer treatment with radiation) to determine the best possible cancer treatment and care plan for an individual patient. Having fresh perspectives from other specialized doctors makes it much easier to come up with that plan. Cancer tumor board is a multidisciplinary team effort where patients receive comprehensive care from expert medical teams that focus not only on specific diseases and disorders, but also on caring for the whole person |
