About me

Location Oakland, California, United States
Introduction I've been traveling around the U.S. West and the world ever since I graduated from the University of Chicago and first hopped on a plane to San Francisco with one suitcase and just $100 in my pocket. If getting far off the beaten path and finding surreal and beautiful places is your thing, come join me on this blog.

I've written content for travel books, online guides, and mobile apps for publishers including Lonely Planet, Wilderness Press, National Geographic, Fodor's, and Countryman Press. My travel writing and photography have featured in newspapers and magazines around the world, as well as on popular travel and news websites such as Jetsetter, Bindu Trips, and the Los Angeles Times.

I've worked and volunteered for the National Park Service (NPS) in California, Hawaii, and Utah, including at Kings Canyon, Hawai'i Volcanoes, and Zion.
Favorite Books In Patagonia, Ulysses, Blue Highways, Slouching Toward Bethlehem, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Warmth of Other Suns
