Introduction Just another guy... Techno geek, linguistics freak, teaching maniac...
Interests I'm very much into reading, listening to music and watching TV, though lately I don't seem to have enough time to do any of my these activities, but reading!!! I'm studying linguistics at UCV-FHE, and I'm having lots of fun analysing the intricacies of: language used in society (sociolinguistics), the sound pattern and functions of languages (phonology), and the morphology and syntax of language (grammar).
Favorite Movies .-Koyaanisqatsi, by Godfrey Reggio and Phillip Glass. .-Love and Death, by Woody Allen .-Beautiful Thing, by Jonathan Harvey .-Kill Bill (vol. 1 & 2), by Tarantino .-The Fever (with the very great Vanessa Redgrave) .-Angels in America, by Mike Nichols (movie made for TV) .-Evening, (another one with the great Vanessa Redgrave) .-Waking life
Favorite Music Particularly opera. Yeah, maybe I'm a little boring. Try to listen to some opera; I'm pretty sure that if you devote, at least, a few minutes to listen to a well known aria from any bel canto opera, you'll love it! If you are curious 'bout this, listen to the 'Mad Scene' from Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti, or to the aria 'Qui la voce' from I Puritani by Bellini... Or you could just contact me, and I'll arrange to have a meeting with you, listen to some opera and discuss it...
Favorite Books .-A course in Phonetics, by Peter Ladefoged .-Language and Linguistics, by John Lyons .-Steppenwolf, by Hermann Hesse .-Casas Muertas, by Miguel Otero Silva .-Cien años de soledad, by Gabriel García Marquez .-La política y el hombre, by J.V. Carrasquero .-Language and Mind, by N. Chomsky
