About me

Location Chicago, IL
Introduction I have been very interested in math dating back to when I was four, and took pride in learning certain basic addition facts involving doubling: 1+1=2, 2+2=4, 4+4=8, and 8+8=16. My third and final year of high school I had the top score in in my region in the MAA math competition. My third and final year of college at the University of Chicago I was honorable mention(Top 25 in the US) in the intercollegiate Putnam Exam. I then fell off the fast track. I went to graduate school at the University of Chicago in Mathematical Biologywhere I studied Population Biology and Population Genetics. I was admitted to Doctoral Candidacy but did notreceive my Doctorate. I later went back to school at the University of Illinois Chicago to earn my MST in Math Education. I have now been teaching for more than 16 years. During that time I have developed a number of ideas about teaching math that I would like to share.
