| Introduction | When it comes to my art I am hard to define, I am not easily pigeon holed. I am a sculptor, a painter and a fashion designer. I know this sounds like i am just a bit confused and unsure of who i am as a practitioner but as you can see if you look at my work i say this because i try to incorporate elements of each into my work. For example my fashion designs have a sculptural feel to them, often using unconventional materials processes to make them. Not that dissimilar to Issey Miyake and the late great Alexander McQueen. Likewise when i am painting building a surface and texture to the piece is as important as the painting that is on top of it. I have often been told that because i do not clearly fit into the box of 'painter','sculptor' or 'fashion designer' make me a difficult person to market or hire; but is easy always better? |
