| Introduction | I work with many volunteers, groups and organizations to reduce tobacco use & exposure. What does that mean? Good question. Here are a few of the things I do: --Compliance checks to ensure tobacco retailers do not sell to minors. -Outreach/Education to any group that is intersted in receiving more information on any aspect of tobacco prevention and control. Topics may include secondhand smoke, youth tobacco use and prevention, health consequences of tobacco use, economic impact of tobacco use and exposure, best practices for implementing a policy (worksite), assisting current tobacco users with quitting. -Provide education to residents who are interested in advocating for change especially for statewide smoke-free air. -Seek media outreach opportunities to educate public on the issues. -Work with 18-24 year olds to help reduce the disparities in tobacco use. (And that could all be in just one day!) |
