Introduction Commissioned in the Madras Regiment of the Indian Army. Took Part in 1971 Indo-Pak War and was wounded in the Battle of Basantar. Served in Sri Lanka with the IPKF. Commanded a Mountain Brigade in the Srinagar Valley (First brigade to be inducted into the Valley after the commencement of insurgency). Selected by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet to head the operational component of the National Security Guard (Black Cat Commandos) and appointed Force Commander NSG (Black Cat Commandos). Member of the Airport Committee for Counter Hijack contingency at all airports of India. Commanded Indian troops besides coordinating logistics of foreign troops (Canada & Poland) as Camp Commandant ICSC in Laos (Vientiane). Selected to raise the first Fixed Class unit (Infantry Battalion) of the Indian Army (10 MADRAS) after Operation BLUE STAR. Awarded Chief of Army Staff’s Commendation Card twice during the career.
