Introduction	"Find what you love and let it kill you." Is this really a Bukowski quote? Whoever said it, it's captured my attention. It mirrors my desire to live a fully engaged life. What else is there? This blog is mostly about me learning how to be an ultra runner. Serious Lunacies is an anagram of my name. Three years ago, after a 20 year hiatus from running, I suddenly found something intensely and inexpressibly compelling about trails and distance. And so I started running and found out there was this thing called ultra running. My goals are internal. They are about finding how deeply I want to dig and how much I want to know. I’m not running to be at the front of the pack. I want to be at the forefront of my life. I’ve found a few extraordinarily talented and generous folks to mentor and advise this newbie. I consider races that interest me, given the constraint to train adequately. I work full-time and I'm married to a very tolerant spouse with whom I share three children. I've completed two 100 milers and several shorter distances.
