| Introduction | Kristen Andresen Lainsbury (Maven in Chief) is a southern Maine girl who went to the University of Maine in Orono and never left. Living smack dab in the center of the state allows her to know what's going on everywhere at all times, which is convenient for a maven. And she not only gets the "two Maines" thing, she lives it. Kristen spent 12 years as an award-winning lifestyle feature writer for the Bangor Daily News. She also created ShopGirl, which Down East Magazine lauded as Maine's best column in 2008. By day, she works in PR for her alma mater. And in her spare time (ha!) she is assistant editor of Inside Arts magazine and a columnist for Maine magazine (www.themainemag.com). As far as she knows, Kristen has set foot in every town, township, organized and unorganized territory in Maine, and she loves every single one of them, though not equally. |
