Introduction | I am a retired Indian Naval officer, presently pursuing a second career in the field of education. I sought voluntary retirement from the Indian Navy in 1999, after a career spanning 24 years as a marine/mechanical engineer. In the Indian Navy, I served on different ships as Engineer Officer, notably INS Guldar (Landing Ship-Tanks), INS Hosdurg (missile corvette) and INS Godavari (multi-purpose frigate). I held numerous positions of management and build some expertise in project management, logistics management and maintenance management. I did a one-year full-time MBA course from the Naval School of Management, Mumbai and a three-month Senior Defence Management Course (SDMC) from the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. Thereafter I have been working in the field of education--preparing students for CAT and other top B-school examinations; and for Group Discussions and Personal Interviews for the last ten years. |
Interests | Reading nonfiction--philosophy, economics, history, science & technology; writing, building vocabulary, mastering grammar, developing English content for CAT. Trekking in the mountains, driving down for short holidays, watching movies. |
Favorite Movies | Doctor Zhivago, Ryan's Daughter, Gone with the Wind, Ben-Hur, Les Miserables, Lady Chatterly's Lover, Far from the Madding Crowd, The Longest Day, Guns of Navarone, The Magnificient Seven, Troy and so on--basically movies based on classics, war movies, movies based on the Bible, mythology, and history, James Bond movies, Westerns, Science Fiction, etc. |
Favorite Music | Old Hindi movie songs and English oldie goldies. |
Favorite Books | Old English classics by Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, Somerset Maugham, Victor Hudo, Leo Tolstoy, D.H. Lawrence, Dostovosky, Emile Zola, Emile Bronte, etc. |
