Introduction	A former medical student, recovering social worker, and retired elementary teacher, I now write Young Adult novels about teens triumphing through adversity and extreme situations, such as gang life, mental illness, and homelessness...drama infused with a lot of comedy, like real life! When not writing, I teach Creative Writing classes to incarcerated youth in the Los Angeles juvenile jails. My goal is to write novels featuring kids who have been underrepresented in Children's Literature, but who, ironically, have some of the most fascinating stories to tell.
