| Introduction | Joann wrote her first story in the first grade, but it was not until she was a teen-ager that she truly discovered a love of words. She took that love of words all the way to college to earn a Bachelor's degree in English with a heavy emphasis on creative writing. "If they offered a writing course, I took it." She says. "Playwriting, fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction...the only one I did not enroll in was journalism. I think that was considered a separate discipline." She now has two college degrees (the second one being in Health Information Technology), a state pharmacy tech license, an Editor's Choice award from the National Library of Poetry and a first honorable mention from the Kansas Authors Club for her short story "Turners Girl." Recently she entered the Fifth Day to a contest sponsored by the Missouri Author Project.
