About me

Gender MALE
Location Exmouth, Devon, United Kingdom
Introduction I was born in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, UK, many years ago, when only the man of the house had to go out to work to make ends meet, and cars were sparse on our winding country roads! I started birdwatching as a small child at junior school, and have never looked back. I started twitching (chasing rare birds) back in 1978, when I visited Cheddar to see a Wallcreeper. I then travelled the length and breadth of the UK in pursuit of new birds, visiting such far-flung spots as the Scilly Isles, Outer Hebrides, Shetland, Orkney and central Nottingham! With the arrival of nose-to-tail thunderous traffic at the turn of the millenium, having stop-started twitching across the country several times, I decided I'd had enough of sitting in a car for 12 hours of a day just to experience an hour or two of birding! I have lived in Exmouth for the last 24 years, so I only twitch birds in Devon and the surrounding counties that are world lifers, if I can afford to go! I am hoping to visit several countries for new birds and to sample the local culture and lifestyles when possible in the future. Last World lifer: Brunnich's Guillemot, Portland harbour, Dorset, UK. 28 Dec 2013.
Interests Birding, football, walking, gardening, beer and port.
