| Favorite books | Reading is fundamental...I learned that from Levar Burton on Reading Rainbow (you know that show still comes on sometimes) and I have never forgotten it. Although I am a bit biased...I review manuscripts which means I read about 5 books each month. I'm also in the middle of a MFA program so reading is everything to me right now. Some of my favorites are... Jubilee- Margaret Walker The Color Purple, Possessing the Secret of Joy - Alice Walker Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston Black Boy - Richard Wright Pretty Fire (the play),White Oleander, Of Mules and Men, The Celestine Prophecy, The Tenth Insight, Poetry by Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson,Ishmael Reed, Tupac,Sapho, Alice Walker, Zora Neale Hurtson, Langston Hughes(truly one of the best check the poem Harlem Sweeties) Plays by Shakespeare (mostly the tragedies Macbeth "Out damned spot!", Hamlet "Get thy to a nunnery!") I also don't get people that don't read and that don't own a collection of books. I don't mean text books either, or just magazines. I mean novels...or at least a collected works or two. |

Why are you all up in the shower with me asking my business? That's the better question...
