| Introduction | Beth Taylor A Very Grateful Walker, sporting bright shoes, ankle & arch supports, shin splint sleeves, and two bionic knees, second only to the ones made by my Mamma! I tuned-up my 62-year-old body in 2016, with two total knee replacements - the left in January, the right in June. I knew I needed a goal to get through the surgeries and rehab. My goal: to walk the 2017 Crescent City Classic in NOLA. I want relatives/friends to join “Team Beth” and walk with me on 4/15/17 (day before Easter). I’ve rehabbed my legs; 3 days a week, every week until PT ended in October. My wonderful surgeon, Dr. Billings at Tulane, said okay to training. He says I’m “the hardest working patient” he’s ever had; doing both knees in 6-months, rehab for 9-months, and now train for a 10K. He said I was “brave” with the surgery. Now he questions my sanity in wanting to do the 10K, considering I need spine surgery in 2017. Maybe he’s right to question my sanity; I’ve done the same as my feet pound the pavement daily. I'm truly grateful for the new knees. So, it’s one foot in front of the other to the finish line! |
