| Introduction | The World Politics of Environmental Protection project and conference is the product of twenty devoted undergraduate students with a broad range of cultural backgrounds; it is also one of the outcomes of an amazing semester spent together dedicated to acquiring a better understanding of world politics and delving into diverse approaches. Environmental protection is presented as a paramount example of a global issue facing the political leaders and the common citizens of the whole world. The various contributions of the student panels represent an original synthesis of-and challenge to-the state of environmental protection in the world, across issues and within processes that are rarely looked at in their complex interconnectivity. The student panels are complemented by a high level panel, bringing together experts from international organizations and academics at AUP to discuss the inter-linkage between Energy and the Environment. Some of these students might rise and challenge environmental degradation, some others might not, but all have risen to higher levels of awareness of the global nature of today's politics, especially in the domain of our common environment. |
