| Introduction | i am a korean american adoptee. growing up in a white family in a white community, i quickly learned to despise my almond shaped eyes, my dark hair, my small non-athletic frame. despite the almost daily reminders of my asian appearance, i convinced myself i was no different than my white classmates, neighbors, or relatives. now, as an adult, i can no longer ignore those differences or the recent deluge of emotions that have overwhelmed my life as i begin to explore (willingly and unwillingly...) who i really am. i realize i am more than a korean american adoptee but this blog is dedicated to exploring what that means to me. |
