My blogs
| Introduction | This blog recounts the experiences of one Confederate army soldier, Robert W. Sing of Bucksville, South Carolina. Following his enlistment, Private Sing served all four years of the Civil War. I am a great-great grandson of Robert W. Sing, a maternal descendent through the Lowrimore and Hagan families. Currently a graduate student at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, I begin work on my Ph.D. in history in the fall of 2012. This blog is my attempt to reach out to other family members to gather genealogical and historical details about Robert W. Sing, to learn more about the life of a rank and file soldier in the Civil War, and explore the impact of the war on his hometown, a tiny community in the Low Country of South Carolina. |
