Introduction Coming to Los Angeles, he was one of the first to shoot in HD Formats, resulting in the films “Internet Love”, “Girls – Mädchen – Ragazze”, “24/7 Sunset Boulevard” and “Sunset Motel”. Early in this millennium, Eckhart has concentrated on documentary features. His main topic is Hollywood, resulting in a series of docs like “The Myth of Hollywood”, “Glamour vs. Paparazzi”, “Hollywood Dreamers”, “Hollywood Gangster”, “Hollywood Legends”. Eckhart produced-directed 60-90 Minutes portraits of Jerry Lewis, Jane Russell, Fred Zinneman, Otto Preminger, Federico Fellini, Francesco Rosi, Claude Chabrol. He continues to work on classical music and opera topics with portraits of Christa Ludwig, Inge Borkh, Hildegard Behrens and Wolfgang Sawallisch. Eckhart was the first to film a comprehensive documentary feature about The Los Angeles Opera - "Recovered Voices". He followed with “Verbotene Musik” a look at the music of Jewish German composers from the 1930ties that died in concentration camps or survived by leaving Germany in time.
