| Introduction | I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and graduated in history from Canterbury University. After a short teaching experience in New Zealand and extensive overseas travel, I settled in Verona, Italy. For five years I was an English language teacher, and free-lance translator for various commercial and industrial enterprises, before joining a major Veronese civil engineering firm, working mainly in the international projects and marketing sector. I am fully fluent in Italian and a naturalised Italian citizen. My intimate knowledge of the country and its history provided the impetus to research the New Zealanders’ role in the Italian Campaign and to retrace the journey of the Division through the Italian peninsula. |
